Overview

State Health Resource Centre (SHRC) was established by a MoU between Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance & Policy Analysis (AIGGPA) and the Department of Public Health & Family Welfare (Government of Madhya Pradesh). It was created on the lines of the National Health Systems Resource Centre, New Delhi, for providing research and knowledge based support to the Department of Health and Family Welfare. The centre is embedded in the Centre for Social Sector Development of AIGGPA.

SHRC functions as a health system strengthening and resource centre. It identifies various implementation bottlenecks and works towards generating evidence for policy reforms. The broad objectives of SHRC are:

  • To assist in policy planning and strategy development
  • To facilitate provision of technical assistance to the state
  • To develop innovative program design
  • To suggest areas of improvement in service delivery leading to better health
  • To conduct gap analysis and evaluation studies
  • To partner with institutions involved in the health sector with a view to fulfill the outlined objectives.

The center has a steering committee under the Director General of the institute. Other members of the committee include the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare(Govt of MP), Commissioner (Health), Managing Director( National Health Mission), Director, AIGGPA, and a representative from the NHRC, New Delhi. Principal Advisor is the member secretary of this committee. The centre acts in close association with the Department of Health and Family Welfare and other associated government organizations in the state.
