Dr. Kanika Sharma joined institute in June 2017. She is an effective communicator with enhanced cultural competency. She is a General Medicine Physician and a Public Health expert. After graduating from medical school in 2011 from Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU), Armenia, she came back to India and practiced medicine for three years. During that time, she also worked with Dr. Dean Ornish, the treating physician of President Bill Clinton of USA and Dr. Bimal Chajjer, the pioneer of non-invasive cardiac treatment in India. Her experiences in India led her to pursue her Masters’ in Public Health, which she completed from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (PA). Her thesis was titled “The compliance conundrum: Knowledge, behavior and education of people receiving Highly Active Anti Retroviral Treatment (HAART)”. While in the USA, she was involved with research projects funded by Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services.  She also worked with Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, PA. Her work included grant writing, studying the bills introduced in the house and the senate, community outreach, program development and attending update conference calls and webinars from HHAP and Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence (HPOE).
