There have been growing global and local concerns about transforming system of governance to make them more transparent, accounttable, efficient, dynamic, effective, and focused on improving the quality of lives of the people to achieve higher levels of satisfaction and confidence of the civil society of Governments.In this emerging scenario, the Government of Madhya Pradesh took an important decision to establish the School of Good Governance and Policy Analysis(SGPA) at Bhopal in 2007, soon after the setting up of the UN center for Good Governance at Seoul by the United Nations in 2006.

One of the prograames undertaken by SGPA began with an Interactive brain storming dialogue on "Moving Towards the Goals of Good Governance" in june 2008 with different stake holders, which was organized at National University of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi. This was followed by a one day workshop on "Disseminating Information on Good Practices in Public Delivery" on June 5, 2009 at Bhopal, in which selected good practices in governance from within the state and other sates were presented and discussed.The three practices of the state of Madhya Pradesh, which were presented in this workshop later earned the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence on 21st April 2010.

The present workshop is the third initiative under SGPA's Programme "Moving Towards Goals of Good Governance", in which eight initiatives that receives that received the coveted Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence on 21st April 2010 and two new initiatives of the State of Madhya Pradesh would be presented.This would be followed by a Special Session focused on "Exploring Areas for Adoption,Adaption and Up Scaling of Good Practices in the Context of Madhya Pradesh" to be chaired by the Chief Secretar, Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Chairman of the Executive Body of SGPA.
